Stateside Reflections

I've been back in the US for a little over two months now, and I have to say, it's far different than I remember.  People are loud and obnoxious as ever, but being back at Dickinson has been harder than I anticipated.

It's been hard to leave my friends abroad, and the freedom that I had while I was there.  My schedule in college has always been rigid, precise, and planned down-to-the-minute, but this semester it has been overwhelmingly so.  As the CEO of my sorority, I have lots of meetings everyday, and I feel like I am always dashing off to see someone…I have yet to go on a walk (alone) since I've been back on campus, which was my solace while abroad.

The activity and daily life at Dickinson is so different than that at UEA; it's like I'm on a different planet.  Obviously part of it is because I have multiple classes every day, I don't have to cook for myself, don't have a s.o. to be with anymore when I want to snuggle, no flat movie nights...People are so much more accepting and understanding in the UK, and sometimes Dickinson reminds me of high school…thought I had escaped that life!  I'd forgotten how judgmental everyone is at Dickinson.

THAT BEING SAID: I am so glad to be back with my friends!  I have missed girls night outs and crazy dance parties (dancing duo is back in action!!).  Living with 7 other girls is intense, rather different than living with 3 boys and 2 other girls…as you do.

I miss the days of walking down the street and casually coming across a horse or cow. Can't wait to get back to the best place, its grassy fields and rainy days. Hopefully this summer…
